Wheat Rava Upma - Gothumai Rava Upma

Among all the upma's, Wheat Rava Upma is the most healthiest recipe. During my childhood i wont like it but now a days i am becoming fan for Wheat Rava Upma. Since my Patti is diabetic patient, she used to make it often. I  have to mention about one of my Mama (Mr.Varadaraj) in this post when ever i hear a word of Gothumai Rava Upma he will hit my mind. He is the deadly fan of Wheat Rava Upma. If we go out to hotel also he will order Wheat Rava Upma. He wont at all complaint to eat it all times and all days. He specially loves Wheat Rava Upma, which is prepared by amma. But i love appa's preparation so we both prepared this Wheat Rava Upma hence this post is more special to me. I will eat along with Curd and Pickle. Amma will have along with any Kulambu or Rasam. Appa will have along with Sugar and Banana.Mixture also tastes good with Wheat Rava Upma. Even with ghee also it tastes good. Try doing Gothamai Rava Upma in home and share your favorite combination.






Wheat Rava Upma - Gothumai Rava Upma Recipe Ingredients.

Wheat Rava : 3 Tumbles
Small Onion : 1/2 Cup (peel and cut roughly)
Green chills : 4 - 5 no's (cut vertically)
Curry Leaves : Few
Bengal Gram : Few
Mustard seeds : 1 tsp
Salt : As per taste
Oil : As required
Water : 5.5 to 6 Tumbler (use the same, in which we measured rava) 

Method: 
1.Keep the ingredients ready. Heat oil in a pan and add Mustard seeds and Bengal Gram let it splutter. 
2.Once the bubbles stops add small onions fry still the colour changes.Then add green chilies and curry leaves. Fry well. 
3.After it saluted, add required amount of water and salt. Keep in medium flame,let the water starts boil. 
4. While water starts boiling add rava. 
5.Keep stirring continuously.After 4 - 5 min it will become fluffy at this stage switch off the flame. 

Now your Wheat Rava Upma is Ready to eat.


Serve hot and enjoy the taste of Wheat Rava Upma.

Notes :
You can also add vegetables of your choice.
You can also use ghee instead of oil.
You can also add finely chopped Ginger while frying onion's.  
You feel water is required,then add 1/2 tumbler of  hot water at the time of stirring.
If oil is not sufficient you can add at last step while stirring the rava with water.
If you require salt then add while stirring.
