Arisi Paruppu Sadam - Dhal and Rice Recipe

Arisi Paruppu Sadam is one of  my and amma's all time favorite, but since dad won't like it we prepare rarely when dad is not there for meal. Even it is done for dinner I won't at all compliant. I usually eat little more when ever amma prepares Arisi Paruppu Sadam. I wanted to post it and finally the day as came. Yesterday night dad went for a function so me and amma prepared Arisi Paruppu Sadam and enjoyed our dinner. This is done in the way amma prepares. Than amma my periamma will cook good so after i learnt the recipe from her surely i will update.

As like Wheat Rava Upma and Rava Upma, Arisi Paruppu Sadam also have many combinations like with Curd and Pickle, with banana, with vadams, with potato.. Try doing Arisi Paruppu Sadam and enjoy with your favorite combinations. Are you are bored of your regular variety rice? Then prepare Arisi Paruppu Sadam and have a difference.




Arisi Paruppu Sadam Recipe Ingredients :

Rice - 1 tumbler
Toor Dhal - 1/4 cup
Small Onions - 1/2 cup (peeled and roughly chopped)
Tomato -  1 Medium sized (roughly chopped)
Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
Red Chilli Powder - 1 1/2 tbsp
Sambar Powder - 1 1/2 tbsp
Salt - As required
Water - As required
Oil - As required

Method
1. Keep the ingredients ready.Rinse the rice and dhal, soak it for at least half an hour.
2. In a cooker, heat oil add mustard seeds, let it splutter, then add chopped onion's. Once the colour turns transparent add tomato and fry till the raw smell leaves. Now add Red Chilli Powder, Sambar Powder, Turmeric Powder, Salt and mix well. Let it cook for 2 - 3 minutes. 
4. Once it done add rice and dhal. Mix it well. 
5. Add required water and allow it to boil. Once it starts boiling mix again and close it with the lid. 
Wait for 3 Whistle. After the pressure releases open the lid and fluff it up. 

Now your tasty Arisi Paruppu Sadam is ready to eat. 


Serve hot and enjoy the taste.



Notes : 
1. Measure water in the same tumbler which is used to measure rice and dhal. 
Eg: For quantity of 1 tumbler use 2 tumbler's of water. Here i used 2 3/4 tumbler of water. 
2. You can adjust the taste before closing with lid. 
3. Serve hot to enjoy the exact taste. 
4. You can also add ghee for frying. 
5. Whistle count is purely depends upon your cooker. Tips: I used to off flame when ever no water  drains out from the cooker when the whistle comes.
